As the new school year draws nearer, members of the UAE government have announced that prior ICA approval is now no longer needed. This means that all UAE residents looking to return to the nation can now do so without seeking prior government approval.
To re-enter the country, all returning UAE residents are required to update their travel data on the uaeentry.ica.gov.ae. website. The details required include the passenger's passport number, Emirates ID number, and a declaration of citizenship. Once the details have been uploaded to the website, they will automatically be granted permission to re-enter the country.
To book a return flight passengers are required to take a PCR nasal swab test at an accredited lab. After receiving a negative result, which has to be declared 96 hours before their flight, passengers can book their return flight with Emirates Airlines.
"All precautionary measures will be applied to residents upon arrival to the UAE, which includes a lab Covid-19 test and to abide by quarantine rules, plus downloading Al Hosn app, in order to preserve their health and safety", the National Crisis Emergency Management Authority explained on Twitter.
Once arriving in the UAE, all residents are required to undergo 14 days of quarantine.
The announcement comes after the Knowledge and Human Development Authority of Dubai (KHDA), announced that parents wishing to keep their kids out of schools will now be allowed to resume online learning in the new term.
"While face-to-face learning remains the preferred education model, we understand that different parents have different views, especially in the first phases of re-opening. As a temporary measure, schools can and should provide 100 percent distance learning provision in the new academic year to parents who request it. This is intended to help ease parents and children into an eventual return to face-to-face learning," the educational entity said in its official statement.
