Most of the time-- and especially during the summer--Dubai feels pretty much like the opposite of the Riviera.
A new development set to open in 2018 is planning to bring a bit of Europe to the UAE, though, with a French Riviera-inspired neighborhood that will be located along Dubai Canal waterfront.
Azizi Developers is the company behind the new real estate, which is all part of the Meydan One project. Named the Azizi Riviera project and coming in at around AED12 billion, the 69 high-rise residential buildings will be located in Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City.
According to the company's Facebook page, Azizi Riviera is "all about community living, evoking the classic Mediterranean Riviera lifestyle with a modern, contemporary outlook."
Along with 13,000 apartments, the development will include plenty of retail options, pedestrian paths for strolling along the canal, water taxis, a yachting facility, and two hotels.
Though the Meydan One mall won't open until 2020, the first phase of the Riviera project will open next year, so we won't have to wait too long to feel like we're in Cannes...
