There's no doubt that throughout Ramadan there have been some great examples of how coming together can change many people's lives for the good. And one particular initiative that has truly taken off and inspired others, has been the UAE Sharing Fridges on Facebook.
Watch the clip above to see how the two creators of the Fridges Committee changed the way the United Arab Emirates gives back during the Holy Month, with one simple idea. Starting in Dubai, they've helped feed workers up and down the country who long days in the sweltering heat and may not have the time or money to enjoy a nutritious iftar.
"The Sharing Fridges initiative has become a movement of compassion and comradery. It goes beyond simply stocking up fridges with food and drinks to be shared with the less fortunate who live and work in our communities," Janine Bensouda, said on behalf of the Sharing Fridges Committee. "It is also a great way to engage with our neighbors and those who work hard to take care of us and our living environments. Whether we are filling the fridges, managing them or benefiting from them, we all come together during the Holy month to share empathy and kindness.
"What a special city Dubai is, where you can see a community of so many cultures, nationalities and religions rally together to help those in need."
HMD Global, the home of Nokia Phones, has donated 33 fridges and delivered 1,000 care packs goods for workers.
Good job!
