While Ramadan is a time for reflection and family, the harsh reality is that the Holy Month isn't the same for Muslims all over the world And this new campaign from Save the Children reminds us that the war in Syria has robbed many people of the experiences they might enjoy on other parts of the globe.
Watch the clip above to see a smiling youngster holding food in his hand grow older only to lose the smile on his face to end up covered in dirt and clutching to bullet shells.
The striking clip really hits home, and is a result of Facebook's Hack For Good, which took place in March. It saw UAE-based students and ad agency executives come together to create an idea that would drum up more support for the organization.
"As we all gear up to celebrate the month with family and friends, we wanted to bring the reality of celebrating Ramadan for a Syrian child closer to our hearts," Soha Ellaithy, Senior Director, Gulf Area Office, Save The Children, said. "Collaboration builds creativity and I'm grateful to Facebook for bringing all these experts and dedicated individuals to help engage communities in our mission to protect children."
