The early months of Donald Trump's presidency have been bleak, to say the least. His travel ban on citizens from seven Muslim-majority nations and the electronics ban that followed suggest that the US is moving toward a potentially dangerous, nationalistic, exclusive society, and it's been draining to follow for people both in the US and abroad.
There have been moments of hope, though: the Women's March on Washington; protests at airports across the US. And now, a viral photo is here to remind us that there's still a lot of good in the world.
The photo was taken on a New York City subway F train on Easter Sunday, and the moment was captured by Jackie Summers, who is a Taoist.
"A Taoist (me) gives up his seat so a Hasidic couple could sit together," he wrote in a caption of the photo. "They scoot over so a Muslim mother could sit and nurse her baby, on Easter Sunday. This is my America: people letting people be people."
In less than 48 hours, the photo has been shared over 32,000 times and has received over 44,000 reactions, and the comments keep rolling in.
"I love it when love goes viral," one comment reads. "When I see how beautiful we can be, it makes me so happy," says another.
THIS, is what makes America great and these days I've been struggling to find ways to feel good about America.
We, the people...Thank you for restoring a little of my faith in humanity today."
Seems like Jackie's post gave a little bit of hope when it was most needed!
