See the Moment the UAE Turned Off Its Lights For One Hour

Between 8.30pm and 9.30pm on Saturday March 19, the world made and effort to switch it's non-essential electricty off. In Dubai alone - a city of constantly twinkling lights - it resulted in a saving of 222 mega watt hour, which equals 96 tons of CO2.

From moonlight meditation to candle-lighting ceremonies in front of famous landmarks, businesses, residents and visitors of the UAE went out of their way to show the planet some love for Earth Hour 2016.

Her Excellency Dr. Aisha bin Bishr. Director General, Smart Dubai Office, said: "We believe a sustainable environment is essential to promoting our city's most valuable resource - people's happiness."
