Kuwait celebrated its 56th National Day on Saturday February 25 with the holiday marking the day Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah ascended to the throne in 1950. Al-Salem al-Sabah was the leader who was in power when the country gained independence 56 years ago in 1961 and people all over the world acknowledged the occasion this past weekend.
