Uber UAE has hired its first female driver… and it's about time, too.
Leading the way for the trend will hopefully continue, Filipina Fritzie Castro, an RTA licensed limo driver, began work today for the ridesharing company in Dubai.
"We believe this will be just the beginning – and anticipate adding more female drivers to the limo fleet this year," Chris Free, GM of Uber UAE said.
She'll be chauffeuring the company's limousines and it's not her first stint in a profession behind the wheel. Over the last seven years, she's worked as a personal family driver, for the Emirates Transport fleet and for a limousine company.
"I love being a driver because of all the people you meet along the way," she says. "I had been hearing so many great things about Uber from customers that I was working with and it sounded like the perfect opportunity. I hope this will encourage more of my female colleagues to join."
And so do we, Fritzie!
