Earlier this week, a press release from The Council on American-Islamic Relations asked Muslim women to "tweet about who they are and how they speak out," using the hashtags #CanYouHearMeNow and #CanYouHearUsNow.
The campaign began as a response to Donald Trump's reaction to the parents of a slain US Army captain, who spoke last week at the Democratic National Convention. The father of the dead solider spoke, questioning whether Trump had ever read the US constitution. In an interview with ABC, Trump responded to the claim: "If you look at his wife, she was standing there," he said. "She had nothing to say. She probably - maybe she wasn't allowed to have anything to say. You tell me."
The mother of the soldier responded by penning a now-viral op-ed for The Washington Post, and women around the world are now joining the conversation to stop Trump's attempt at forming a stereotype. See their powerful posts in the following gallery.
